Borderline Café, Shop & Gallery Borderline is a café, fair-trade handicraft shop & art gallery based in Mae Sot, Thailand, supporting Burmese migrants and refugees on the Thai-Burma border. Check out our catalog and email us your mail order!

REFLECTIONS

On Thursday, 3rd February 2011, Borderline Gallery will open “REFLECTIONS,” an exhibition by artist Win Htet. In his solo show, he presents many beautiful landscapes of Burma and portraits of Burmese people, using a variety of mediums such as watercolor, oil, acrylic and charcoal.

Win Htet has been a member artist at Borderline Gallery since the beginning, thus his strange inspirations and skills are very familiar to us. Although he has shown his artwork to his friends frequently in this past, this is only his second solo exhibition.

Win Htet is always eager to improve, and invites you to openly share suggestions and critiques of his new work. The exhibition opens on Thursday 3rd February 2011 from 6pm – 9pm, and continues until 16th February 2011.

POINTS

On Tuesday January 6, 2011, Borderline gallery will hold it’s first exhibition of the year by the Arakan artist Myat Thein Zaw. We named the exhibition “POINTS” and that is because the artworks that the artist shows us are about the different points of his inspirations.

In this art show the artist has expressed the abilities of his art skills and his intentions to his artworks with the mediums water color and acrylic.

We as the viewers will see his different art abilities and different styles of painting at his exhibition by using different methods and colors.

Borderline Gallery cordially invites you to meet the artist at our new exhibition. The opening reception will take place from 6pm to 9pm on 6th Jan 2011. The exhibition will be until 19th of Jan 2011.

Winter Dreams

Dreams may be signs of the future or reflections of our memories. For Burmese people, dreams in wintertime are particularly fantastic and random explorations of the mind.

Winter Dreams InvitationOn Thursday 2nd December 2010, Borderline gallery will open “Winter Dreams,” a new solo exhibition by the talented Burmese artist Htut Aung. In his art showcase, Htut Aung uses a variety of mediums and techniques to share his Winter Dreams with Borderline Gallery’s audience.

Borderline Gallery cordially invites you to meet the artist and discuss all our Winter Dreams at our new exhibition. The opening reception will take place from 6pm to 9pm on 2nd December 2010. The exhibition will be until 16th of December 2010.

BRANCHES

branches-for-web.jpgOn Thursday November 4th, Borderline gallery will open a solo exhibition of Karen artist Saw Cu Cil entitled BRANCHES. This unique exhibition showcases his diverse portfolio of work, which explores traditional images through a mixture of mediums and styles. From striking charcoal portraits to gentle watercolour landscapes, this exhibition expresses the nature of Burmese ethnic peoples and the beauty of the country, and also includes portraits of key political leaders. As viewers, we are invited to follow him through his personal artistic journey.

Please join us for the show and meet the artist at the opening reception taking place at our Gallery from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday November 4th. The exhibition will end on 18 November 2010.

Artist And His Dancers

artist-and-his-dancers.jpgOn Thursday 7th October, Borderline gallery will open a solo exhibition of talented Burmese artist Wunna Zaw entitled Artist And His Dancers. This unique exhibition showcases his diverse portfolio of work, that explores traditional dancing images through of water color mediums and styles.Artist wants to show to our audiance all about the Burmese female traditional dancers, their difficulty and their abality for their way of dancing. We as the viewer are invited to follow him through his personal artistic journey.

Please join us to enjoy the show and meet the artist at the opening reception taking place at our Gallery from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday 7th October. The exhibition will be on until 20th October 2010.
